Top Cybersecurity Events of 2019
With a seemingly endless list of cybersecurity events this year, how do you pick the ones that are best for you and your business? Staying on top of the latest trends and technologies is a must, especially in cybersecurity. These conferences bring together some of the most renowned authorities, while the sessions are filled with practitioners who offer up their insight and experience across all aspects of cybersecurity, including fraud detection and threat intelligence.
We’ve done the legwork for you by compiling a list of the most prestigious conferences around the world. CyberInt will be attending some of these events, and we hope to catch you there.
Black Hat Asia
When: March 26-29, 2019
Where: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
One of the world’s leading Information Security events returns to Singapore. Black Hat focuses on the more technical aspects of cybersecurity and features hands-on training by top industry experts. The Keynote is by the infamous Mikko Hypponen of F-Secure, who will talk about the cyber arms race. Another interesting talk is “Through the Rabbit Hole”, by Intel VISA, about how one can access the power of Intel’s VISA (Visualization of Internal Signals Architecture) to read PCH internal buses and other security-sensitive devices. Black Hat Asia offers a full networking schedule including a Woman in Security meetup and the exclusive, invite only, ‘VIP Party’.
InfoSec World
When: April 1-2, 2019
Where: Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA
Infosec World celebrates 25 years in 2019 of presenting a dedicated security community conference respected the world over. This year’s conference keynote is by John Prentice on supply chain security. Two interesting talks to catch are “Aligning Your Security Program with Business Goals” from Mike Kegerreis of Texas Instruments, and “Unify DevOps and SecOps: Security Without Friction” by Matt Alderman of Security Weekly. Networking opportunities include the exciting “Living Security Escape Room”, an interactive game where groups have to solve puzzles related to security concepts in order to escape.
Kaspersky Security Analyst Summit
When: April 8-11, 2019
Where: Singapore
The Kasperksy summit is a top event for security analysts and researchers. Many top-notch analysts attend and present at this conference. Notable speakers include BAE’s Saher Naumaan and Andrew ‘bunnie’ Huang. Two must attend talks are “A Mysterious Framework”, a panel on large scale SIM swap fraud, and “Skeletons in the Supply Chain: An Exploration of Attacks on Payment Systems”.
FS-ISAC Annual Summit
When: April 28-May 1, 2019
Where: Orlando, Florida, USA
FS-ISAC is an important C-level summit for those working on critical security threats facing the global financial services sector. The annual events take place in the USA and Asia. The 2019 Keynote for the FS-ISAC Annual Summit is Brad Meltzer, best-selling author of “The “Escape Artist” and host of the History Channel’s “Brad Meltzer’s Decoded”.

When: July 10-11, 2019
Where: Singapore
The 2019 Keynote for FS-ISAC Asia is Su-Yen Wong, Chairperson, Nera Telecommunications and Independent Director at Yoma Strategic Holdings, MediaCorp, and NTUC First Campus.
FS-ISAC Fall Summit
When: November 17-20, 2019
Where: Washington, DC, USA

Info Security Europe
When: June 4-6, 2019
Where: Olympia, London, UK

Info Security Europe is Europe’s leading conference for Information and Cyber Security. This year’s headliner is still to be announced, but previous years have included Jack Daniel and security strategist and author Dr Eric Cole. Be sure to catch “Digitalisation and the Cyber Insecurity Gap: a look at the cybersecurity impact of digitization”, presented by our very own Daniela Perlmutter. We’re also looking forward to the panel “CyberThreat: Rethinking Cyber Defense to Combat Complex Risks, Threats & Vulnerabilities”, moderated by Dan Raywood.
Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations and Cloud Strategies Conference 2019
When: June 4-5, 2019
Where: Frankfurt, Germany
This event focuses on the latest research from Gartner, offering insight from operations and infrastructure leaders. Speakers include Gartner’s Research Director and industry veteran, Tiny Haynes. We’re particularly excited about “Artificial Intelligence in Security: Marketing Hype or Genuine Hype?”, which looks at the benefits of machine learning.
DEF CON
Short for Defense Condition, DEF CON is known as the “Hackers Convention” and provides the latest insight into vulnerabilities and hacking techniques.
Def Con China 1.0
When: May 31 – June 2, 2019
Where: Beijing, China
Def Con 27
When: August 8-11, 2019
Where: Paris, Ballys, and Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas
The schedules and speakers for both events are still being firmed up, but watch out for some big names. Previous conferences included Gail Thackeray, former Assistant Attorney General, and Xiaolong Bai, Security Engineer of Alibaba Inc.
NRF Protect
When: June 11-13, 2019
Where: Anaheim, California, USA
CyberInt will be exhibiting. Come say hello at Booth #302.
This is the retail industry’s biggest event for cyber-risk and loss prevention. A must-not-miss talk is “Don’t Fumble the Handoff: LP implications of BOPIS” from Best Buy’s Lisa Brock on shipping related fraud. Also, check out “The Undermining Effects of Unconscious Bias” by Carla Harris of Morgan Stanley.
Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2019
When: June 17-20, 2019
Where: National Harbour, MD, USA
This Gartner conference offers insights into new technologies such as IoT and AI and how they fit with the changing cybersecurity landscape. Featured speakers include Jeffrey Wheatman, VP Research at Gartner Research, who will be talking about several issues, including offering advice in “A Practical Guide to Create a Useful Cybersecurity Risk Appetite Statement”.
RSA Conference Asia
When: July 16-18, 2019
Where: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
This is the Asian version of the US RSA Conference on March 4-8, 2019. This year’s theme is, to put it simply, Better. Which means working hard to find better solutions. The speakers are expected to be released in May so watch out for those. While you wait, watch a talk from the US show “Humans Are Awesome at Risk Management” by Akamai’s Andy Ellis
GSX 2019
When: September 8-12, 2019
Where: Chicago, Illinois, USA
Global Security Exchange (GSX) is a leading cybersecurity event for professionals from across the entire supply chain throughout the globe. This is a truly international event with over 20,000 attendees across the spectrum of security specialists. The 2019 conference is still shaping up, but you can expect to see the full line up of speakers in April.
RHCISC
When: September 24-25, 2019
Where: Denver, Colorado, USA
The retail cyber intelligence event of the year is an exclusive conference that is carefully tailored for strategic leaders and cybersecurity practitioners in a range of industries. We will It offers collaborative discussions and practical workshops, and there is an emphasis on networking with colleagues to discuss innovations and changes in retail cyber intelligence. Look out for CyberInt’s booth and featured talk; we’ll update as soon as we have the details.
ISOG- ISOG I AM SECURE Event
When: October 8 – November 8, 2019
Where: Manilla, Philippines
This month-long event is organized by the Information Security Officers Group (ISOG) security awareness month. It brings C-level and cybersecurity professionals together to share ideas and knowledge on how to stay secure in an ever-changing cybersecurity landscape.
IP EXPO
When: October 09-10, 2019
Where: Excel, London, UK
IP EXPO has been running successfully for 14 years and tailored to cloud, infrastructure and cybersecurity pros. This year it expands that focus to include data analytics, AI and software development, IoT, and blockchain. The conference includes case studies, demonstrations, and practical advice. It also includes beer and cool speakers! The show has over 100 expert speakers and includes input from industry leaders such as AWS, Cisco, and IBM.
Cybersecurity Summit
When: October 20, 2019
Where: QEII, London, UK
This one-day conference is packed with case studies and advice from key industry players. The conference is usually attended by C-Level and department heads in the areas of cybersecurity, Data Privacy, AML, risk and compliance, and security architecture. While this year’s agenda is still under wraps, last year’s lineup included Will Smart, CIO of NHS England, looking at health service cyber threats as well as Robin Jones from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Podcast: CISO Vendor Relationship Series
And finally, if you can’t make it to the events, check out the podcasts from the CISO Vendor Relationship Series. They offer a fascinating look at the intersection between the vendor and the buyer of cybersecurity products. The podcasts have an interesting slant on how collaboration between both will help to build a smarter way to mitigate attacks.
